The Design Challenge
Designing a complex dashboard and configurator demanded close collaboration, deep domain knowledge, and a strong understanding of user needs. Key contributions included:
Main Takeaways
Navigating complex data in a specialized industry demanded rapid learning, deep domain understanding, and the creation of realistic, actionable visual models. Key takeaways included:
Before & After
The cable configurator we designed significantly enhanced visual clarity, resulting in a more intuitive and user-friendly interface.
Designing the Lightseer® Dashboard
To accommodate users working in low-light environments and displaying data on large screens, I designed a dark-theme interface that prioritized readability and easy scanning of tables and graphs. I enjoyed the challenge of translating complex data into clear visualizations, creating a color-coding system to simplify management and analysis.

Establishing the Design System
I designed a foundational design system, creating reusable design tokens that could be implemented across the solution.
Workflow Creation
We developed numerous workflows to demonstrate application functionality, ensuring alignment with both business requirements and user needs.
Visual Design
Implementing the design system within the visual design was both fun and rewarding. I enjoyed tackling the complexities of this project and designing something entirely new.
